Mary Shaier

spent her life dedicated to the arts.

A member of the original Martha Graham Dance Company, Mary went on to a full career as a painter and mother of two.

She studied under Hans Hofman and spent many summers in Cape Cod, friend and neighbor of Hoffman, Wilhem de Kooning, Chaim Gross, Milton Avery and Benny Andrews.

Mrs. Shaier worked primarily in oil but left behind an enormous library of drawings and sculpture as well. Her work is strong, dark and an obvious product of the heyday of abstract expressionism.
