Julius Shaier

had a long and varied career in the performing and plastic arts.

A violist, he was a founding member of the Manhattan String Quartet.

He drew and painted throughout his life and when he ceased playing the viola professionally, he continued to draw, paint and sculpt.

He and his wife Mary were an integral part of the artistic and social fabric of Cape Cod, Massachussetts with such colleagues as Hans Hoffmann, Raphael Soyer, Willem de Kooning and others.
