Michael Burke
was an astronomer and city planner until 30 years ago when he turned his attention full-time to art.
Harvard-educated, Michael worked at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory for a time and then after obtaining a master's degree in urban planning he spent five years in the field.
His work is clearly centered in science but it is science seen through the eyes of an artist.
One collector admits he does not understand any of the formulas and numbers found inscribed or etched in Burke's work but says "the fact they are real formulas adds another level of complexity to the art; not understanding them doesn't detract from the beauty of the piece itself.
